I don’t know about you, but something that always gets my heart pumping is watching the red carpet during award season. There is just something about watching your favorite actresses walking down the red carpet while falling in love with all of the designer gowns.
It’s the season of Hollywood glamor. The 2016 Oscars Academy Awards were held yesterday at the Dolby Theather in Beverly Hills, and oh my, did you watch the show? There were so many gorgeous highlights of the evening. Not to mention, our favorite Leonardo finally won his Oscar.
Now, let’s talk fashion. I have collected the best fashion moments from the Oscars red carpet and the Vanity Fair after party. There were plenty of sequins, diamonds, and bling, as glamor is the keyword for a huge award show like the Oscars. I love how, even though the gowns were over the top and extremely glamorous, the looks still represented the personality and style of the person wearing it. Props to individuality.
Cate Blanchett is wearing an Armani Privé cap-sleeve mermaid gown with hand sewn clusters of Swarovski crystals and white feathers. She topped the look off with Tiffany & Co. jewelry.
Olivia Munn, wearing a gorgeous Stella McCartney gown, and Forevermark jewels. Her lips matched her gown perfectly in a light tangerine shade.
Priyanka Chopra is wearing a revealing and beautiful gown by Zuhair Murad, together with Lorraine Schwarz jewelry.
The stunning, Charlize Theron, stuns the red carpet yet again in a custom Christian Dior, Jimmy Choo heels and Harry Winston jewelry worth of 3.1 million dollars. Talk about, “diamonds, are a girl’s best friends“.
Rachel McAdams is wearing a gorgeous baby pink sequins gown by Naeem Khan, together with Stuart Weitzman heels.
The gorgeous Victoria’s Secret model, Sara Sampaio, is wearing a see-through/barely there glitter dress by Zuhair Murad.
The Mexican singer and actress, Eiza Gonzalez, is wearing this beautiful silky slit gown and cape. I love the color and everything about this simple, yet stunning, look, though I have not been able to track down the designer yet. Bummer.
Taylor Swift is rocking a sexy Alexandre Vauthier gown paired with Giuseppe Zanotti heels and a Jimmy Choo clutch.
Red carpet trends to keep an eye out for this year:
- Plunging necklines/deep V necklines were almost everywhere to be seen during the red carpet show. Rock this for a daring, sensual night out look.
- Gowns with slits for a revealing, sexy look.
- Barely there gowns. Super sexy and perfect for events where a revealing dress is acceptable. For alternatives that will not cost you a fortune, check out this dress from For Love & Lemons (that I wore for my graduation prom), or this gorgeous one from ASOS.
- Cape designs were incorporated in every way possible during the evening. It is minimalistic, simple and just gorgeous.
